Shivnath Choudhary has a wealthy lifestyle in Chandanpur along with his wife, Leela, and 8-year-old daughter, Neena. He enjoys mingling with the poorer folk of the village -- much to his wife's annoyance. However, when Shivnath steals money to help the poor, it's the last straw for Leela, who burns down their huts and forbids him to see their daughter.
